3D/CGI & image retouch

Client: Pikeman Brewing (Ireland)
Creative Director: Ian McCaffrey
Production: Promenade Post

Dublin based Creative Director and storyboard artist Ian McCaffrey (Jurassic World, Vikings etc) and his team of other super talented artists such as award-winning sound designer Denis Kilty and graphic designer Barry Smith (Twelve and a Half) created this movie for Pikeman Brewing. My part of the project was to create the photo-real 3D product visuals used in the end shot of the movie. We also produced a bunch of other product images to be used in print and other media.

I created all the 3D models of the bottles and cans from scratch and we added the 3D condensation as a premium detail later on in the project. For the end scene they also added the effect of a fire sparkling in the background with some embers floating around. All the images were also final retouched by me.

Pikeman — Born In Rebellion

Both the brand & film are inspired by the struggles of the 'Croppies' (Irish rebels fighting for independence) during the Irish Rebellion of 1798.

Armed with simple pikes, ordinary men and women of Ireland rose up and battled against hopeless odds for an Irish Republic based on liberty and equality.

The story behind Pikeman.

“It's all about the 1798 Irish rebellion where Irish peasants rose up against English landlords, but were slaughtered in the summer of 1798. It depicts lots of smoke and sharp blades - so this is flying close to the edge on what's acceptable ad standards! But that's kind of the attitude we are going for. And because its an Irish story close to us we are trying to leave no stone unturned to make it as good as it can be.”
