3D/CGI

“Morning Glory” — A personal CGI project

I combined different skills within 3D modeling/lighting/rendering and photo retouching to place this Land Rover Defender (3D) on Torö beach, just outside of Stockholm, Sweden.

A “behind the scenes” look of the 3D elements that was combined into the photographed backplate.

The car was rendered using Cinema 4D and Nextlimit Maxwell Renderer.

We went to the beach early in the morning and waited for the right mood for the shot.

I had my Nodal Ninja panoramic head with me, so we could also capture the HDR lighting that I later used for the final 3D lighting.

The guy in the canoe was actually shot later in studio. We matched the lighting condition from the beach using some strobes, so adding him to the shot later was rather effortless.

This CGI project was later published and written about in the book “Digital Mayhem / 3D Machines techniques” by Duncan Evans.
